Learning the piano is one of the best ways to start this wonderful adventure of musical discovery. My lessons include lots of fun and creativity. Progress continues between lessons, and you as a parent can play a vital part in your child's musical development. Whether learning a pop song, a movie theme, a jazz tune or a classical piece, whether learning for enjoyment or working towards an exam or a recital, I can support every step of your child's musical journey.

And if you're an adult wishing to learn, whether from scratch, returning after a break, or to support your child's learning, I can help you with your musical aspirations.
About me
My name is David Frankel. I am passionate about music, and want to share my passion with you. I am a qualified and experienced musician, with over twenty years' experience of teaching piano to students of all ages and abilities. As well as teaching reading skills I also encourage creativity through playing by ear, improvisation and composition. Lessons can cover a range of styles, including classical, pop, jazz and blues. Lessons can take place both online and face to face.

Feedback from my adult classes
"David is a highly skilled teacher with a lot of experience in teaching the piano. David is patient encouraging and you get value for money when you are taught by David. I am a beginner and have found it very helpful having a teacher like David. David has taught me both face to face and online and in a short while I have mastered playing the piano reasonably well without missing key learning points."

"I’ve been having lessons with David for a year now. I am an extremely late beginner. David is so patient and encouraging. He teaches you at your own pace. Having to now have Zoom lessons I was a little worried at first but it works really well. He listens and corrects you and makes the lesson varied and most enjoyable."

David is a very experienced piano teacher, as well as a professional jazz piano player. He can certainly help you with standard piano technique, but will also be able to incorporate creative ways to practice with rythms, patterns, harmony and improvisation etc, which can help you approach piano from a fresh perspective. As an adult piano student, I would definitely recommend him to anyone who is curious and would like to get a deeper understanding of piano and music in general - the most rewarding of efforts.

David is a very experienced, versatile, and patient teacher. As an adult student, I've been having lessons with him for a few months, and along with a clear and fast progress I've been really impressed by the structured and balanced approach to our sessions. They can easily be tailored towards your immediate or long-term goals: working on technique, playing by ear, sight-reading, building up both classical and modern repertoire, or improvisation. Regardless of the plan for a particular lesson, there is always a variety of activities, efficient use of time (and technical tools, given that we meet online these days!), and interesting things to work on. As a result, you develop a balanced, all-round musical ability. I highly recommend lessons with David to the players of all ages, levels, and styles.
